Magazine feature article inspiration

Magazine feature article inspiration
To design our feature article, as a method of promoting out film AFTERTASTE; we decided to find an existing magazine to be able to draw inspiration from such as the structure, layout and design of a successful article which would enable us to reciprocate it.

We found these two examples which we felt fit in well with the chosen structure of the feature article for AFTERTASTE. The way that the article is presented is very clean cut and draws the audiences eyes towards the large image as well as the different bits of text which are in bold. In my opinion, when designing our own version for the feature article of our film AFTERTASTE i believe that it will work really well if we use a large image of the main protagonist pf the film (in direct address) on the large side of the article because it reveals a little bit about who the character of the film is and what they look like, this might intrigue readers of the article to want to watch the film.
Since looking at published feature articles we have decided that we will use the following conventions in order to make our feature article successful:
  • Drop Cap
  • Pull quotes
  • Simple fonts
  • A side article
We have chosen to highlight these four specific conventions because we want to show the readers a better insight into the production of AFTERTASTE and involve them more as they will know the main characters opinions and things they have said in the making of the film as well as featuring the context behind the film. We believe that methods such as pull quotes can easily accomplish this because a readers eyes are instantly averted to text that sticks out during a longer length article and we believe that these different quotes included in the article will hopefully hook the readers attention.
