Question 4
How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Within the process of construction, research, planning and evaluation stages of my media product I was able to use a wide range of applications and technologies to be able to assist this process. I was also able to develop my previous skills using different technologies from previous tasks such as my AS media projects. 


1. Blogger

The integral piece of technology that was used throughout the whole process of creating, researching, planning and evaluating my short film project is Blogger. This application allowed me to be able to publish and keep track of all the stages of the film and present all of my work in order of completion. I have been using this app to present my work in both AS and A2 tasks and I have learnt to use a lot of different aspects and tools that it offers. For example I was able to make my blog more accessible on the home page by creating a side bar which had links to every single piece of work on my blog and where to find it, this allowed me to keep all of my different documents and presentations organised as well as well presented. I believe that my skills that I have accumulated while using Blogger have drastically improved from my AS blog because I am now able to complete my work using different methods and present it in a better manor. 

2 .Adobe Premiere Pro

Image result for adobe premiereThe first application that was used during the key portion of creating my short film is Adobe Premiere Pro; which is a technology that allowed me to be able to edit my short film as well as add different audio tracks and sound effects. Without this application, we wouldn't have been able to complete our short film because editing is a crucial part of how to put together the different scenes and create the desired emotion that you want your audience to feel. I used this application to construct both my short film and the bloopers, it allowed me to easily import all the clips I has accumulated over the filming periods and paste them together to create the final products whilst adding different text slides and audio on top of the videos as well as edit different audio clips to fade in and out of scenes. 


3. Adobe Indesign

Adobe Indesign is the software that I used to be able to create the feature article for our short film. I had some previous knowledge on the application from the tasks that were completed in the AS level blog where I created a music magazine. Therefore I had a basic understanding of using Indesign to be able to create a successful magazine article that was used to be able to promote my short film/ AFTERTASTE. This software allowed us to use professional layouts to create an eyecatching article where we were able to add different sizes of images and drop caps and pull quotes to create a successful product. Another one of the basic feature I was able to learn and apply is creating columns for text much like a typical magazine and changing different background styles to make it as appealing as possible to my target audience. Having this previous knowledge meant that my group didn't struggle while creating the feature article using this application and we were able to focus on making the product look good instead of learning all the techniques of Indesign.  

4. YouTube

I used the YouTube application as a platform to upload all my different tasks that I created in a video format. This has also been a key technology that I have used in order to collate research in the pre-production stage of my project. This video sharing platform was vital as it was the best method to use while uploading my short film because I was able to upload the whole 7 minutes of it in good quality which would be ideal for a streaming platform and to show an audience. This was also a key technology in the research stage because I was able to watch many different short films in the BSR genre for me to have the inspiration to create my own.


5. Scribd

Scribd is another media sharing platform that I used to be able to upload and present different presentations and word documents into my blog. I used it to share different stages of this product from planning to production. This application allowed me to create embed link in to my blog so that I could share different files in a creative way instead of a normal blog post. For example I created different PowerPoint presentations in the short film research section of my project, and Scribd allowed me to upload the different files and embed them into my blog using a link. 

6. IMovie
Image result for imovieI used IMovie during both the pre-production and production phase of my short film as a editings software for small tasks where I didnt want to use Adobe Premiere Pro. For example, the first task that I used this application for is for the film exercise portion of my pre-production phase of the creating of my short film. I was able to paste together all the different types of shots that I created whilst adding captions to explain each one and adding a background audio to make the short video more interesting for my blog. I also used this application on my mobile to create the behind the scenes video for my short film because I used my phone to be able to record the time lapse videos so using this editing software was the easiest option and it again allowed me to add text and audio easily to then upload it to YouTube and eventually to my blog. 

7. Adobe Spark

Similarly to the IMovie application, I used Adobe Spark as a mobile application to create the video for my Question 1 evaluation. This application allowed me to ass different video clips, audio, photos and text while creating a voiceover to be able to answer the first evaluation question. I decided to use this software as a change from editing on the same software and I was able to create a 7 minute video which answered the question while being a creative platform where I was able to show my ideas in the video format. 



8. Google Chrome
Image result for chromeGoogle Chrome was the main search engine I used throughout the whole of this A2 level task. I used this engine to be able to research, plan, produce and evaluate my short film from start to finish. This technology was most useful during the research stage of the production because I was able to read, watch and listen to various different sources of information and I was able to gain a strong knowledge about both british social realism style of film as well as researching the topic of our film, which was domestic abuse so we had the right knowledge to be able to create the best film that we could with all the right information and to be able to educate and help people correctly with the social issue. 


9.Microsoft Word, PowerPoint

I used these two Microsoft applications throughout this whole project to be able to showcase all different stages of planning and production in both textual and visual formats. For example I used Microsoft PowerPoint to be able to create visual presentations about several topics such as short film research, film analysis such as Cubs and Wasps, and presenting different evaluation questions. These were both very useful softwares throughout the project because I was able to plan many things to do with the production of my short film using them. 

10. Equipment

Finally, whilst creating my short film, I had to use various pieces of equipment to be able to create the highest quality product. During production I was able to use a Canon EOS 700D camera which would record the highest quality image for our short film. Alongside that we used a RODE microphone to be able to record high quality audio for the clips as well as voice overs through the film. And the final piece of equipment I used while filming is a tripod which was used to create different heights and angled shots as well as stabilising the camera into a position where it wouldn't be shaky or tilted into a funny angle. These were all very useful pieces of equipment which i believe without them, our short film wouldn't have been produced as well.
