Synopsis- AFTERTASTE

Synopsis
Title: Aftertaste
Tagline: A sweet offer never comes without a bitter aftertaste
Target audience: The target audience of our film will be 15-23 year old, students /working class people of both sexes. This is because domestic abuse is topical issue in that age range and society. We also feel that this issue is more prominent in those early stages of adult life, because young couples are still naive to the world, and would expect someone that “loves” them not to do that.
Classification:

Reasons for classification: The film will be classified as a 15 because the BBFC classification states that violence may be strong but no severe injuries may be shown; can include strong threats and language and also strong/ dangerous behaviour may be shown full so the audience can’t copy; it’s kept discrete.
Story Summary: The film is about a young couple called Blake and Amber; they live together and are planning a future family. Despite Blake’s troubled past, Amber decides to stick by him regardless of the way he treats her and his aggressive behaviour. Amber’s friend, Maddie, moves in with the couple for a short period of time and sees what the young girl is dealing with and how aggressive Blake is. It’s not until Amber sees the reflection of pain in her friends emotions until she realises what she has to do to make herself happy. The last scene of the film is where we really see Blake’s emotions; as before it was uncertain who the main protagonist is. The scene is where Blake realises what he has when it’s gone and he has a breakdown.
Lead actors/ characters:
  • ·         Amber- Georgia Wheeler
  • ·         Blake- Victor Miburu
  • ·         Counsellor- Shannon Mcnamara
  • ·         Maddie (Ambers friend)- Yasmeen Mudey

Locations where the film will be set: The film will be set in modern-day British society in locations such as the couple’s home.
Original quality/ USP: The unique selling point of our film is that it is based on a sensitive topic (domestic abuse).Another reason why our film is special is because it doesn’t just focus on just on the victim’s point of view but also the abuser and it shows his past and why he has become the person he is to his girlfriend. Our tagline expresses “A sweet offer never comes without a bitter aftertaste” which means it shows how Amber is being abused; it’s difficult for her to get out of the relationship. The film also shows two points of view of the characters.
Themes addressed:
·         Domestic abuse
·         Alcoholism
