Question 3
Question 3

Another point that we received from our target audience is that after watching the film, they felt well informed about the issue of domestic abuse and they felt that our film would help spread awareness and help to both a younger and older audience about the topic. This is a great piece of feedback to have received because it meant that the film was meeting its objectives and its having a positive response. It shows that our short film, AFTERTASTE is both entertaining and informative which is the effect that we intended for it to have.
What did you learn from your audience feedback?
Audience response is a type of interaction associated with the use of audience response systems, to create interactivity between a presenter and it's audience.
Having and creating audience feedback is a very important within the production of the short film that we created as it is a way in which we can receive the opinions and preferences from the people that the film is specifically aimed at. My group found that it was necessary to have this type of feedback collated throughout the process of creating the film because we wanted to make the production and distribution stages as successful as possible for the end product and taking on board constructive criticism is very important because we wanted to edit the film and different products to please the target audience.
There are many ways that can be used in order to collate this sort of data from an audience for example through screen tests, questionnaires or social media. Being a short film production, my group felt that it was most suitable to promote our film, AFTERTASTE through social media because it a massive platform to be able to attract a bigger audience but it also doesn't have a cost which is perfect with little to no budget in a small production.
We firstly decided to have a small group of individuals from our targeted demographic watch the film before we created the final edit, which is where we were able to finalise changes and make it more suitable. We received heavy feedback about the audio and backing track to the film because before the final version we didn't have any music to accompany the scenes and the audience felt as though some of the scenes were awkward or when silent; therefore we used this knowledge to then add different songs and instrumentals to the film to create a better emotion through the scenes and make the audience have a better reaction.

- 70% rated the film 5/5 for effecting their emotion
- 100% agreed they are more aware of the importance of domestic abuse
- 90% rated the film 10/10, the other 10% rated it 9/10
- 100% agreed the film style is british social realism
This is a piece of feedback I received under the upload of the behind the scenes video that I created. This shows that the audience is interested in the film and it can also be used to help promote the film because it can entice the audience and create a hype around the film.
After releasing the short film onto social media and creating promotional campaigns to be able to reach the target audience of 15-21 year olds, I collated some of the responses and comments we received through different social media platforms such as Twitter. This was one of the key platforms that we used in order to heavily promote our short film throughout production company Beyond Pictures; I believe it was very successful because we received different feedback from different people who enjoyed out film.
