Film poster inspiration
Film poster inspiration
When we decided to create a film poster in order to promote our short film, AFTERTASTE; we researched some existing film posters that already had an impact with a similar audience that we also wanted to appeal to. We believed that drawing a range of different inspirations from existing posters would help inspire us to create our own.

The first poster which we found is from a film created called Elements. With a similar story line to AFTERTASTE the idea of this poster is to show audiences that although the female character is her own person, her partner's actions and words are always within her stopping her from expressing what she is thinking and feeling. We believed this was a very powerful poster which was a similar emotion that we would like to convey in our own poster to show audiences the impact of domestic violence to an individual mentally and not just focusing on their physical appearances because a lot of the time people are capable of masking their emotions and putting on a front to seem like everything is fine.

The next poster that we found was useful inspirations is from a movie called #NoMoreShades which is again based on similar themes to our film, AFTERTASTE. This was a strong point of inspiration for creating our film poster because because the poster conveys the idea that the character looks fine on the outside, however behind her shades she is hurt, traumatised and abused and people do not realise. We wanted to show this in our film poster as two sides to a story and what you initially see, inst as expected.
